Ep 1: Nothing Can Eclipse God

Speaker1: Well. Good morning. This is something new for me. I assume it's new for you because I haven't released an episode before, but I just wanted to jump in right before we started and just say thank you for giving this a listen. I hope that you find it helpful. I'm really excited about this project, and it's something that I hope brings some help to you and your family as you are on your way to church this morning. This is something that I've been thinking about doing for quite a while now, and I'm just really excited to give it a shot. This is going to be a growing process. This is something that I am new to the world of podcasting and audio editing and all of that. So be patient and we will grow with this together. Speaker2: Are we there yet?

Speaker1: Were you able to see the eclipse at the time of this recording? It's only been a few days since the April 8th eclipse. Were you able to see it at totality? My family and I, we drove up to Santa Claus, Indiana. Yes, it's a real place. And yes, they lean into it hard and we were able to see the eclipse at 100% totality. Easily one of the coolest and most unsettling things I've ever witnessed. Imagine a bunch of people sitting in lawn chairs, wearing the same sunglasses and just staring up at the sky. It honestly looked like some kind of UFO cult. Anyway, back on track at the moment of totality when the moon blocked out the sun, it was an absolutely amazing sight and it was about as dark as it would be at twilight, if not darker. And you wouldn't have known that the sun was still in the sky, except for that halo of light shining right behind the moon. And at that moment we were separated almost entirely from the sun's light. And we knew it was there, of course, but we just couldn't see it. It was so close, but just out of sight. You know, I've been thinking a lot about the eclipse this last week, and it's something that I won't soon forget, and I'm really glad we got to experience it. And what's wild to me is there are certain parts of the country where people from all over the world traveled, even sold out hotels and rental properties just for overcast skies to dash any hopes of seeing the eclipse. They were so close, but something came between them.

Speaker1: And I think there's certainly a spiritual lesson here. Many spend their entire lives so close to God. Salvation is in reach. They're right there. They're almost there. But they let something come between them. That might be sin, disobedience, ignorance. You know, maybe they can see the light of God's truth, but false teaching obscures it. I think of the rich young ruler in Matthew 19. You know, he was right there talking to the very Son of God. But when told what he must do, he went away sorrowful. He just couldn't do it. God was right in front of him, but he let something separate him from Jesus. But on a more positive Note those of us that are saved, we are blessed indeed, because nothing can come between us and the love of God. In Romans 838 and 39, Paul says, for I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Unless, of course, we let it, as long as we walk in the light as he is in the light. Nothing can eclipse God. I'm Daniel Dopp and these have been some thoughts for your Sunday morning drive.
